APRIL 18
The journey begins tomorrow at 8 a.m with a flight from the UK to Boston. I fly Aerlingus and haved bought and will wear a green shirt and a Clancy Brothers Arran sweater in hope of an upgrade. I will be away from home for twelve months and I have a long long way to ride.
Am I nervous? Yes.
Scared? A little.

INTRODUCING SIMON GANDOLFI
Hi. I am seventy-three-years-old. This is my first blog. Welcome and be patient. I leave the UK on April 18 to ride a 125cc Honda from Mexico to the Southern tip of South America. Most days, I will post my progress. I should be expert by the end of the journey (if I make it). My adopted daughter, Anya, has doubts and tells me I am irresponsible. My wife, Bernadette, is delighted at the break. My four sons, Tony, Mark, Josh and Jed, consider the trip typically adolescent behaviour. I am a little scared. I will feel better knowing that you, the readers, are joining me as a virtual companions.
